LARISSA PARRA

Hi there! I'm an English Ph.D. student at UC Irvine, and at the heart of everything I do is a deep, genuine love for teaching. Writing has always been my passion, but what truly energizes me is helping students find their voice through well-crafted and compelling essays.

 

Over the past few years, I've had the privilege of working with students across a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and learning styles. From ELL students laying the groundwork of grammar and confidence to young poets pouring their hearts into workshop applications, every student reminds me of why I love tutoring.

 

Whether it's teaching test prep strategies to a nervous student or sitting down with the tenth draft of a student’s deeply personal statement, I feel invigorated by my students’ desire to learn and aim to deliver effective lessons and instill confidence. 

 

Education demands and fosters empathy, and I believe that there's no such thing as a "bad writer," so I lead with sensitivity and kindness. I’ve been fortunate to have educators who inspired me and instilled a love of learning; I can’t wait to do the same!
